First of all, congratulations on getting married! This is a big step in your life. And now, while you are all concerned about wedding planning, its time to think about your wedding dress. When you start digging into wedding dress shopping, you will find out that there is much more than just dress silhouettes. You need to find the perfect dress that will look good on you, will emphasize your advantages and hide your flaws, a wedding dress that will be the right color that will go well with your skin tone, and have a nice feel. All these characteristics come from the wedding dress material. So when shopping for a wedding dress, its important to understand how different types of fabric look and also know some of their characteristics.

Some brides choose to wear a wedding dress made of organza for their big day, as it is a very transparent and relatively fine fabric because of the extremely low-density way of its weaving. The material is very light and sheer, which is why it is often used as an upper layer of a dress, overlaying thicker layers underneath.

Where did organza fabric come from?

The history of organza goes way back to the Middle Ages when westerns derived the term organza from the term organzine, which was used to refer to the spinning method used to make the threads used in this fabric. Since then, it was used for many traditional wedding gowns or an evening wear, when people needed to have a lightweight and semi-transparent look. It used to be made exclusively from silk, making it cost a fortune. However, with the development of civilizations, the material became less expensive as people learned to make it out of fully synthetic fabrics, such as polyester and nylon.

Pros and cons of organza wedding dresses

Organza is very light and thin, giving your look some fairy tale vibes. Its drawback, however, is that you have to be very careful wearing a dress made of organza, not to rip the material as its very susceptible to damage. Avoid any sharp angles and cover the dress when it is in storage. Make sure you dont put it in the washing machine as its too delicate. Organza can be washed by hand or dry cleaned.
